Spielman is really passing me off. What was the point of cutting AD if you are not going to use the. Money?

Here's what I am thinking...
Maybe they think that they have their LT in Boone ???
Thus adding OG in FA and draft is much easier and cost effective. $7 mil for a LT in Boone is a pretty good price considering. Maybe they liked Sirles last year enough to think that he could be the RT ???
Now just adding interior guys is all that is needed if they think that they have OT backups in Rashod Hill and Clemmings in emergency. Maybe even try bringing a healthy Jake Long back??
Interior they have Berger, Easton, and Beavers who they drafted last year. Hopefully they go get Zeitler !!!

I have seen drafts with us getting a great couple of interior OL with our first picks
OG Dan Feeney Indiana
OG/C Ethan Pocic LSU

Regardless they probably are not going to break the bank for average players across the OL.
Zeitler is worth the $$$ not much else is worth a ton of cash though.
I wanted Wagner also, but that's a lot of $ for a RT.

Technically, the free agent signing period hasn't even started yet. I'm no Spielman fan but shouldn't the guy get at least a few hours of actual free agency in which to act before everybody rips him for being inactive?

I agree. It doesnt technically start for another 40 minutes. What worries me is that we have no LT, RG or RT and many are already gone. The deal Kalil just got is atrocious on Carolina's part. 5 year 55 mill with 25 guaranteed. Glad we didnt get into a bidding war with them. I saw a tweet last night saying dont be surprised if you saw us sign an Okung/Reiff combo after 4pm.

Lets put it this way, it's not like Spielman is sitting home eating a bag of popcorn. He's negotiating with guys out there and they are looking at OL. Cleveland just landed Zeitler but also made him the highest paid guard in football with their ridiculous cap money. Poor guy is gonna watch his career rot in that place.

The guard market has dwindled significantly. It's TJ Lang and a crew of backups.

What's sad is that Matt Kalil is only making $1 million less per year than Andrew Whitworth. The Panthers were disgustingly desperate. Glad we didnt make that move

I have a few minutes so I just wanted to post this here:

Ian Rapoport reports that the Vikings have entered the mix for free agent WR Alshon Jeffery, who is also in talks with the Colts, Bears and Eagles.

Just saw this too. I don't get it. Give Treadwell a chance for gods sake. If we spend a ton of money on Jeffery and sign nothing for OL, I will officially have zero faith in Zimmer and Spielman.

That is a sound signing. South Dakota connection, solid player. (not great / not terrible, should provide steady presence.) Now for a LT...

I'm glad we didn't overpay for Kalil, that would have been awful.

Wonder if interior will be Boone-Berger/Easton-Berger/Sirles ?
