Bradford finished the game completing 25-of-33 passes in the 38-10 win over the Bears and will finish the season at 71.6 percent, surpassing Drew Brees’ mark of 71.2 set in 2011. Although the Vikings’ offense struggled to score points consistently this season, his final numbers — 3,877 pass yards, 20 TDs, 5 INTs in 14 starts — don’t look half bad.
I'd start Teddy!

Didn't he start 15 games? That's another great stat from this year - he didn't miss any time behind that terrible line.

I'd make signing Sam our #1 goal this off season. Even if Teddy is back and healthy, he still has to beat Sam out for the qb spot. And as much as I like Teddy, I dont see that happening. Wonder how much it would cost to keep Teddy on the roster as a backup?

Teddy is under contract for $2.18 million for next year -- $1.35 million in base salary, $825,000 in prorated signing bonus. He would cost $825,000 in dead money if released.

Bradford is signed through 2017 -- $13 million in base salary, $4 million roster bonus, $17 million total against the cap. He would cost $4 million in dead money if he's released.

Right now, it makes the most sense to keep them both. That said, I can't see any way Teddy would be considered #1 on the depth chart. Bradford had an excellent season.

Bradford is accurate when given time and I think he is the best option going forward. I do wish they would be more as aggressive though and maybe that will happen if the line is improved. Definitely a lot of important decisions to make this offseason.

Bradford just had the best season of his career with the worst offensive line he's played with (that's saying a lot considering a few of those Rams teams he played on) and the worst rushing attack he's ever played with. If we can make improvements in both of those areas I would be really excited to see what he could do.

It probably wouldn't cost that much. I like Teddy too, but let's face it, he's an unproven young QB coming off a devastating knee injury, and he'll most likely be a backup next year.

then again, the Texans broke the bank for Brock Osweiller, so who knows?

You are correct in Sam's actual pay next year totaling $17mil but everywhere I read the NFL folks say his "cap hit" is between $18-$22mil depending on the pundit. Not totally sure where that comes from other than he did sign a 2 year deal this past off-season in Philly so maybe the cap-hit language is in the fine print?

I don't want to sound like a broken record but could you imagine Bradford with a run game that would actually give him a play-action effect?

And another thing not talked about is Diggs, he's not been "right" for MANY weeks now. He missed a few games and he has played several games when he was not close to 100% which of course allowed for the emergence of Thielen (sad he didn't get his 1k today) but when you think about what the wr's could look like next year with Diggs, Thielen and hopefully they re-sign CP...and dare I say IF Treadwell "gets it"?

1) Fix the OL
2) Draft a young buck RB

The D is pretty much in tact for 2017, this team finished a DISAPPOINTING 8-8 with a train wrecks worth of injuries, no objective observer should think this can't be a team that jumps up to 11-5, 12-4 next year IF they fix the OL.

I got my information from two different sources -- Over the Cap, and Sportrac.

He signed a 2-year, $35 million contract prior to this season, with $22 million guaranteed. $11 million of that is signing bonus, with $7 million of that coming this season, and $4 million due next. If the Vikings release him prior to June 1, they owe him the $4 million left on his bonus, and that's the dead money. There are escalators for his contract, one being for playing a certain percentage of his team's play, which he earned this year. I believe that escalator is $1 million, so that may be where you're hearing the $18 million. But I've never heard anything about $22 million, except that was his guaranteed money over two years.

What you are saying here makes sense to me ($18 mil) because I know if the escalators are considered "reasonably reachable" they have to be added to the cap hit. Don't know where I heard $22 mil but if it comes up again I'll pay better attention and post it here.

My hope is they either release (most likely) AP or get him to take a VERY min salary, and extend Sam for a few years which will do wonders for his cap hit too. Personally I'd release Teddy as well and save a couple mil more there too and draft a rook QB in later rounds to develop while signing a vet who you know will be healthy day 1 next year.

Teddy hasn't proven to be that good yet. Everyone was just hopeful that 2016 would the year he turned the corner. Sam proved he is reliable behind a #### OL and carried the offense this year. Teddy was an unknown before and now after this injury is even a more unknown. For that reason, going to Teddy would be a backwards step for the QB position.
