Kickers?

Post by PurpleMustReign »

Can someone look up to see what kickers are available? There has to be someone who can at least suck slightly less than Walsh. Hell, even I can get a kick blocked and miss an extra point, and I would do it for 1/10th of what Walsh makes.

From what I've seen, you don't want to know who is available. Travis Coons, kai forbath don't exactly scream upgrade.

Don't hate on my Buckeyes. Some of the best Vikings went to Ohio State.

Some recently graduated college kickers are better than Walsh, IMO.

Jaden Oberkrom, who played at TCU, had solid stats:

KICKING G FG-MADE FG-ATT. FG% LONG PATS
2012 13 22 30 73.3% 53 42 - 42 (100.0%)
2013 12 14 18 77.8% 56 37 - 37 (100.0%)
2014 13 22 27 81.5% 47 76 - 77 (98.7%)
2015 13 21 25 84.0% 57 59 - 60 (98.3%)
TOTAL 51 79 100 79.0% 57 214 - 216 (99.1%)

He is currently on the Browns reserved /retired list though, so I don't know how feasible it would be for us to acquire him. There must be other options out there.

Welcome to this episode of "So Your Kicker is Broken"...
Chris Tomasson ‏@christomasson
Blair Walsh has missed 7 kicks this season (4 FG, 3 PAT). In his first two seasons combined, he missed 8 kicks (granted PATs are longer now)

NFL.com reports #Vikings to work out kickers If sign 1, would eat Blair Walsh salary this year. Next year $1.65M dead money

As of last night, was told no on Scobee, Forbath, Cundiff.
Bullock, Hartley, Graham might be possibilities. #Vikings

Not to mention, the pickin's are pretty slim out there.

I fear our kicking situation is a lot like our O-line situation. We're stuck with who we've got.

Here's something else that's sad.

Matt Prater signed with the Lions in October of 2014. Mid-season after being released by Denver. Talk about your lucky pickups.

It's been done before, that gives us hope at least!

We just need to find 2016's Matt Prater.

Maybe we just need to find an extra point specialist... kind of like some teams used to have short-range and long-range kickers.

@MikeGarafolo saw video of Randy Moss making 28 yard kicks in dress shoes, bring back The Freak!
Maybe our new kicker

And, word is 4 or 5 kickers coming in for the #Vikings tomorrow to tryout. @MikeGarafolo first to note of tryouts happening.
11:37 AM - 7 Nov 2016

Josh Scobee
Randy Bullock
Not sure who else.
