Training Camp Master Thread

Post by jackal »

http://www.vikings.com/schedule/trainin ... edule.html

Here is the training camp schedule only 22 days away ...

My wish list for camp...

1. OL solidifies and plays well this year.
2. Wide outs improve and get chemistry with Teddy
3. Kalil gets past his problems and has a pro bowl year again
4. Linebackers core is set Barr/Kendricks? Cole? Peterson?/Hodges
5. Our secondary continues to improve..and our other safety spot is set...

Your #1 is also my #1. It's also by far my biggest concern going into training camp.

Three starters coming off injuries/surgeries (Fusco, Loadholt and Kalil).

Huge gaping hole at RG to be filled by any one of Clemmings (rookie with only 2 years playing OL), Thompson (6th round pick; played OT exclusively at OK), Yankey (considered too physically weak to play last year despite injuries on the OL), Berger (stop gap, valued more as a reserve and backup for Sully) and maybe even Harris (looked better than Ducase when he filled in last year at a position he hadn't played since HS). Feels like we are throwing everything at the wall and hope something sticks.

Evan Mathis is still unsigned.

Absolutely! If that doesn't happen, the entire offense suffers.

I was happy to hear Norv adress it pretty heavily in his interview last week.

I am a big believer in DL/OL line play as a huge priority in the NFL. I know the
rules have allowed good QB to throw 5000 yards now or almost five thousand
year in and year out..The game still slows down in January and teams that can't
stop and power through other teams usually get a quick ticket to go fishing.

I really hope we exit training camp at full health.

I'm trying to keep calm, but especially with the recent news on Adrian Peterson...man, I'm hyped.

Jabari Price suspended for first two games due to his DWI last winter. New rules kicking in for first time drunk driving offenses.

With Price suspended and Robinson probably starting the season on the PUP list, it's a great opportunity for a guy like Justin Coleman (undrafted free agent out of Tennessee) who Paul Allen said stood out during minicamp.

Vikings Sign Free Agent CB Josh Thomas. "The Minnesota Vikings have announced that the club has signed free agent CB Josh Thomas.
Thomas signs with the Vikings as a free agent entering the 2015 season. Thomas spent a part of the 2014 season with four different clubs. The Cedar Hill, Texas, native spent training camp with the Carolina Panthers and then saw action in the regular season with the Seattle Seahawks."

The players are supposed to report to Mankato today. Training camp is officially open! I am hoping for a healthy and productive camp.
