Preseason Power Rankings No. 27: Minnesota Vikings

Post by dead_poet »

These are meaningless, but it's the offseason. I'm scraping for content here.

I've been watching those the past few days, and wondered where the Vikings would end up. I thought they'd fare a little better than that.

By definition, Power Rankings are always meaningless. Nobody goes to the playoffs based on a sports writer's evaluation. But they're interesting. Now that the yearly head coaching merry-go-round has stopped, free agency mostly done, the draft, and even some offseason workouts in the bag, it's not hard to get a general feel for how the season might shape up.

We had a good draft but it will still be at least 1 more year b4 we can think about the playoffs. I like the direction we are heading but another sub 500 season is likely. 6-10 sounds about right.

I think the strength of the schedule is the biggest road block this season.

Well, that is good in a way.. we can sneak up on other teams, especially in the beginning of the season when the schedule is (on paper) most difficult. :smilevike:

I don't think I see a "weak link" until week #7 @ Buffalo.

This team is at least 3 wins better than last year. And if Bridgewater starts and plays really good they will make the play-offs, book it!

This is kinda funny because there are really more 'what ifs' this year then any year I can remember. I think we are better then this. But it would suck if we turned out worse. Cause I remember how I felt about Fraizer's first year.

I'm with you on that! The season can't get here fast enough!

Besides, I'm excited about watching this Vikings team with its new look.

I think the ranking makes sense at this point. The QB position is really still questionable and even though we have changed our defense around we still don't know what we have there. When the preseason starts and we actually see these guys in a game setting it is really tough to know what we have. The rankings may change some once the real, practice starts and we get a game or two under our belts in preseason.
