I always thought antoine was the best run defense corner ever and wasn't nearly recognized as much as he should have been in his prime. Offensively, I always liked leroy hoard.

I might have not uderstood your topic. Millard was voted into 2 Pro Bowls and is listed in the top 50 Viking players of all time. :?: He was a star.

Ahmad Rashad was definately a star Viking receiver (Rashād caught 495 passes for 6,831 yards and 44 touchdowns).

My choices would be Scott Studwell and Korey Stringer..

Recently, it'd be Kleinsasser. Robert Smith might be up there.

Kelly Campbell and LeRoy Hoard. I liked Chuck Evans a lot too. For defense it would be Lance Johnstone.

[quote="80 PurplePride 84"]I can't just pick two so here goes:

On offense: Jake Reed, Jim Kleinsasser, Nate Burleson, Mewelde Moore, Jermaine Wiggins, Chester Taylor, Tony Richardson (he was a pro bowler but since he's just a FB I included him.)

On defense: Ed McDaniel and EJ Henderson.

Ah, but both of those LBs made the Pro Bowl (McDaniel in 1998 and Henderson in 2010). :)

That said, I don't think either was ever really a star. I'm just giving you a hard time because of your stated criteria.

I'd have to say Dave Osborn (although he was one of the first Pro Bowl players in Vikings history, I don't think he was ever a star) and Jim Kleinsasser.

I'm considering Tommy Kramer and Keith Millard stars or I'd be picking at least one of them and I have to mention the great Gary Larsen.

For me it would have to be Jim Kleinsasser on offense since nobody out side of Mn probably knew he existed. On defense it would have to be Bench-warmer Bob (Bob Lurtsema). Growing up he had great commercials for TCF with police and security always chasing him out of the Met stadium because they didn't believe he was on the Viking football team. Probably only a legend in Minnesota.

I'll add Moe Williams and Jermaine Wiggins.

Hoard, Leo Lewis, Eddie Payton, Chester Taylor were a few others off the top of my head.

I always thought Mewelde Moore was pretty good. I know I've said this somewhere else, but I always thought Darius Reynaud coulda been somebody, he swapped from WR to RB and maybe even back again, and since he's landed with the Titans, he's kind of been proving he is somebody.

Might have been helpful to include some guidelines, but it's still a good discussion.

AC had 10 catches for 227 yards in the '87 division playoff upset of the 49ers, including some of the great circus catches in team history. I'm thinking he was pretty much as big a star as you could be for a couple or three seasons.

Six Pro Bowls definitely made Browner a star. He was also one of the best leaders the Vikings have ever had.

I used to like Wade Wilson. That guy was pretty unsung, but he could sling it. Also liked Gary Larsen of the old Purple People Eaters. He was lesser known than Page, Eller or Marshall, but still a darned fine DT.

Go ahead. I dare you.
