A good question, and to tell you the truth, he was an oversight. I still think of him as a Philadelphia Eagle, but that 98 season was special, even more so than 2009. Cunningham probably should have replaced McMahon, but it was just so weird seeing the former Bear quarterback in a Viking uniform.Mothman wrote:
So does that mean you think Randall Cunningham qualified as a Viking?
I've told people a million times not to exaggerate!

Re: Name Your 5 Favorite Vikings of All Time
For me, I have to limit it to players I watched who are no longer able to disappoint me:
Keith Millard
Alan Page
Paul Krause
Matt Blair
Anthony Carter
Honorable mention to the best cover corner we ever had - Carl Lee - and to the best free safety we ever had not named Krause - Orlando Thomas. His pass defense in a play against Shannon Sharpe of Denver is, in my mind, the single best defensive play in the history of the Vikings. Someday I'll rip it off my tape of the game so you all can see.

Funny, you can tell who some of the older people are by the players they pick. It's easier to pick someone when you have watched them play.
To add a couple more to my list. 5 is way to hard.
Gene Washington. 17.8 yards per reception
Joe Kapp. " There's no one most valuable Viking."

For some of you younger guys who never saw some of the older players play. Here is a site for some highlights.

I was thinking he should have replaced George. I know what you mean about McMahon: it was weird seeing him play for the Vikings! The same goes for Warren Moon...Just Me wrote:A good question, and to tell you the truth, he was an oversight. I liked that you created a list of "borrowed" players.

I'm glad to see Marshall and Millard showing up on some lists. I don't recall seeing Doleman's name yet.
Honestly, as much as I love Ad and CC, it would have been easy for me to create an all d-line top 5. The Vikings have a great history at those positions!

Joe Kapp.
Oh wait, five?
Joe Kapp times five.
For the record, the very first Vikings game I ever saw was September 28, 1969 at the Met. Joe Kapp threw for 449 yards and 7 touchdowns. The Vikings won 52-14 over the Baltimore Colts. In my 9-year-old mind, this was how it would always be as a fan of the Vikings ... and Joe Kapp was God.
All right, for real.
Joe Kapp
Chuck Foreman
Alan Page
Adrian Peterson
