Sage should be the Back-up Q.B.

Sage should back up Ponder and offer his experience as advice. Webb is far too talented to be wasted holding a clip board on the sidelines. Try him at receiver, try him anywhere, just keep him on the field. If they can use him as an option somehow to add a demension to the offense.. THOUGHTS?

Sage can offer advice anyway. His spot on the depth chart doesn't prevent him from doing that.

Webb's talents seem somewhat specific so just getting him on the field isn't enough. He needs to be better than the alternatives. It's not like they can put him at a position other than QB and have him run his best play (the broken pass play scramble). They've tried him at receiver. It didn't work out.

It's easy to say Webb is too talented to keep on the sidelines and it's probably been said every week since he joined the team but where are they supposed to play him? He IS talented but if he's going to be a WR, he needs to be better at playing that position than the other WRs on the team. If he's going to play TE or DB or LB or RB he needs to be better than the players already playing in those spots. He's a gifted, elusive open field runner but beyond that, what skills does he bring to the table to get him on the field over other players (many of whom are also talented athletes)?

I'm sure they'll make an effort to work him into games, as they did last year, but other than QB, I just don't see where Webb fits.

It's not even a competition. Was the same way when he was first signed.

Was the "sage advice" pun intentional?

Webb is an incredible change of pace when he comes in as qb. Rewatch last years Detroit game if you have any doubts. I wish he was an accurate thrower. They can't pressure him, because he does so much damage on scrambles.
