To date, only the Raiders, Dolphins, and Buccaneers have opted to take advantage of the new blackout rule, which allows teams to televise home games in their local markets if as few as 85 percent of the non-premium seats are sold. (All three teams picked the new minimum of ochocinco percent.)
Plenty of teams have said they won’t reduce their minimum obligation below 100 percent. At least one team will make its plans known soon.
Vikings spokesman Bob Hagan tells PFT that Minnesota will make an announcement regarding the new blackout rule this week.
Since the deadline for picking a percentage between 85 and 100 passed on August 9, the Vikings already know what they’re doing. And if they weren’t taking advantage of the rule that allows teams to reduce their minimum threshold, there would be no need for a formal announcement coming days after the passing of the deadline.
