NFL Top Ten Snakebit Franchises #2 Minnesota Vikings
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JxBfDeN1oL0I don't know how they can't be #1. They should be #1, #2, and #3, IMO. The way they lose games, not just playoff games, but even regular season games, fans of other teams just don't know what it's like. They don't understand. My arguement to anyone who ever tell\s me that the Cubs are sports most cursed franchise is that the Vikings have at least as many failures and heartbreaks as the Cubs, except in a much more condensed time period. The Cubs have been around since the late 1800s. The Vikings have been around since the 1960s.

They move away, become the Ravens and win a SuperBowl almost instantly. Then they recreate the team....And again... they suck. At least we have always been good. Last I checked, since 1960 the Vikings are the 2nd for win/loss ratio in the regular season. Only the Cowboys are better. That statistic right there is enough to make us number 1. We should have like 9 Lombardi trophies in our case. Hell.... I think if we even had 1 we'd still be down our selves. 4 Superbowls and 5 NFCC games. All lost. 1998.... I mean... COME ON!! We had the most explosive offense the NFL had ever seen. Notta, nothing, zilch

Even when it comes to picking the suckiest of the sucky, the Vikings get no love

I found this. Since the afl-nfl merger in 1970 we are the 5th best team. I'm trying to find the other numbers I read. It was a similar chart and we were number 2 behind the cowboys since 1960. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NFL_standi ... NFL_merger

I've often wondered why it was that the Vikings didn't show up for those four Super Bowls. Maybe it was Bud Grant's low-key approach that just didn't work with the circus atmosphere that always surrounded the SB.

I have seen the worst of the worst with both teams. Steve Bartman back in 2003. Pearson push, Anderson miss FG back in 98, farve INT back in 2009

I would have said hands down the Vikes in 98. I can see a good argument for the Browns though. Imagine the feeling we would have if the Vikes left Mn. and we got a expansion team to replace them then watch what used to be the Vikes immediately win a SB.
I really think I would just lose the will to live and never leave my easy chair even as they were removing it from my home to foreclose on me since I hadn't been to work or paid a bill since the SB.
I maybe Farving it up a bit though.

Pearson push, Anderson miss FG back in 98, farve INT back in 2009 I wouldn't call a 4th quarter interception from Favre evidence of being "snakebit". it means freaky bizarre events occur that happen at weird times that prevent you from getting to the top. As much as I love Favre that wasn't a bizarre event, the pass wasn't sharp and Porter made a play. What was bizarre about that game was the 7 fumbles from receivers, who had not fumbled in years. Or that 12th man penalty that forced the Favre play, when we never had huddle issues before. I never thought about it but I agree that the Vikings should be #1. The Browns failures can be traced directly to mismanagement and idiocy, which keeps them consistently below average. And every "big" free agent or top 10 rookie they ever drafted all had major question marks on them, and people have never really been surprised when they fail. The Vikings have been pretty good over the years and have been to 4 Super Bowls, and made 3 NFC championships in the past 15 years, with 2 of those games lost by uncharacteristic and bizarre circumstance. I think the reason why the Vikings don't come to people's heads is because there is no backstory or basic reason why. The Cubs have that awesome goat curse, the Red Sox had the curse of Babe Ruth. The Vikings don't have anything like that that I'm aware of. Anyone have any legendary explanations for the Vikings stopping themselves from winning it all?

Re: NFL Top Ten Snakebit Franchises #2 Minnesota Vikings
When I saw this program, I was fairly shocked that the Browns came in at No. 1 over the Vikings. For one reason and one reason only: The Vikings never had a decade like the Browns did in the 1950s. Sure, that's a half-century ago, but it doesn't mean it didn't happen. For all their follies, the Browns have earned the No.2 position on this list. The Vikings definitely own the No. 1. The Walker trade, the Hail Mary, the upset in Super Bowl IV (they beat the crap out of the Chiefs to open the 1970 season), the other three SB losses, 41-0 against the home underdog Giants, Gary Anderson in 1998, 12th man in the huddle in 2009, Dimitrius Underwood, the pass bouncing off Darren Nelson at the goal line in the 1987 NFC Championship game, Culpepper's ACL & MCL injury, Les Steckel, the Love Boat ... need I go on?
It's kind of comical that the Vikings aren't even the best at being the worst.
