Thoughts and prayers for the Greenways
Greenway has been a no-show for nearly all voluntary offseason activities so far, but for a very good reason. Quote: Minnesota Vikings linebacker Chad Greenway has missed portions of the offseason program because his father is suffering from cancer. According to Matt Holsen of Keloland TV, Greenway's father has entered hospice and neighboring farmers in South Dakota are pitching in to help care for his farm.

Sorry to hear about that; doesn't sound too good for the old man though...

Man, cancer sucks. I wish they could find a cure for it. The lady next door to me just died from it last week.

Call me crazy, but I think that there's actually a cure for cancer but the pharmaceutical and medical business are BIG businesses for them to suck people dry of their money only for them to die anyway.

Uh....ok...yer crazy. Think about it; the pharmaceutical business is a billion dollar business. Millions of people suffer from and die from this deadly disease and pay out their behinds for treatment only for many of them to die anyways. If there is say, one pill or a shot that they could take and the disease is gone, the pharmaceutical companies lose big time because all the expensive treatment that a person would have to take would be null and void. During this recession, the only two entities that actually made money is oil and pharmaceutical.

As Someone who just lost the 43 year old mother of my children three weeks ago to a rare and rapid acting disease and went through an in home hospice situation I can really relate. I don’t know how he could make any practices, I still have a hard time leaving the house.

As it stands, since the drugs and treatments are so expensive and many people die after enduring it anyway, a lot of people decide to keep their money, will it to their families, and go more peacefully. If big pharma was trying to simply earn more money they would drain people dry with treatment and then give them the "fix" at the very end. Everybody is willing to shell out money if they know they'll live after the fact, far less people are willing to shell out money on what is often times a "long shot".

I hope you don't have to either, I would not wish it on anyone.

As a single man, I don't ever think I'll understand what you're going through, it must be tough...

I thought it was bad when my gf broke up with me, I can't imagine what it would feel like if she (or someone close to me) had died.

Re: Thoughts and prayers for the Greenways
Thank you all for the kind thoughts.
I did not mean to highjack the thread it’s just that I could relate how the illness/death of a loved one can really suck the life out of you.

Hey Todd, I dont want to highjack the thread either but I do want to share with you as someone who also lost his spouse (my wife passed on Feb 15th this year after a nine year battle with cancer) that if you find it difficult as you say to "leave your house" I urge you to reach out. Get in touch with the grief and the loss that you are feeling, if you dont, it will consume you. If you belong to a church...go there, if you have siblings, friends, neighbors you trust ....call them, you will be a survivor once you find the strength to accept the loss and begin the process of healing. YOU CAN DO THIS !!! I wish you Gods speed in your journey.
