 Bad Management
Just discovered this site a short time ago. Purple pride seems to be a rather dead site. Glad I found this one. Been a Viking fan since 1972. All-time favorite NFL player is Fran Tarkenton. I grew up in New York and started watching football in 1971 when I was 17 yrs old. When Fran was traded back to Minnesota in 1972, I adopted the Vikes as my other team along with the Giants. Being a fan this long has been extremely difficult. Way too many disappointments. At least my Giants helped alleviate some of the pain. I believe the Vikes are on the right path to rebuilding a contender. I only hope Frazier and company can improve as well. I think trading Jared Allen for a 1st round pick would have been a good move. Most of the consistant teams have franchise quarterbacks. Aside from 4 good years from Culpepper, this team hasn't had a consistantl nucleus at quarterback since 1978 when Tarkenton retired. Tommy Kramer, Wade Wilson, Rich Gannon, Jim Mchmon, Warren Moon, Randall Cunningham, Jeff George, Culpepper, Brett Favre, and now Ponder....I really feel for you hometown Viking fans. I hope you get your stadium and have a better year. I'll continue to watch them here in Houston on NFL Sunday ticket..

 Re: Bad Management
welcome ...
being a Vikings fan isn't easy.. I have been watching since the early 90's and have seen them touch the ceiling twice in NFC championship games.
Hope you enjoy the site and get in some good chats with us. A lot of sharp vikings fans on here.. and a few you might want to add to your foe list ...

 Re: Bad Management
Thank you for the welcome. If you've only been a fan for 20 yrs count your blessings. I watched 3 of the 4 Super Bowl defeats, the Hail Mary game in 1975 when I was in the Air Force in Alaska. The 1998 NFC Championship failure and most recently the disaster in New Orleans two yrs ago. Favre's second yr..the roof caving in.... does it ever end! God Bless the Viking fans and hopefully soon you'll have your first Super Bowl Champion. If someone told me in January 1977 after witnessing Super Bowl 11 that the Vikes would still be waiting in 2012 for another appearance... Who would have believed it..They were so great in the '70's. I could still name all of 'em.
