Word on the street is that Washington is going to sign with the Vikes. He's not a superstar but he could add some depth at wr.

don't need him whatsoever. We'd have a stacked WR core sure, but money could be better spent

Going to need someone to fill in while Harvin is migrained, and Rice is still fighting through a lingering hip issue months later.

Source?

I wouldn't mind more competition at the #4 WR spot. He's a solid special teamer as well (I think he was the Pats' second leading special teams tackler in '07), so there's value there. Though my question is what is with all of our receivers? If this is true, I wonder what it means for Rice and his injury. We should be looking for offensive line depth, not more #4/5 WRs. *shrug* I guess we all saw what Greg Lewis did though.

Yeah, I would actually like a *Source* on this as well, cause I am not seeing it or finding it anywhere in Vikings news. Although, I did see today that we signed a deal with Mickey Schuler TE.

But I can't find anything on this Kelley Washington thing anywhere.

Is this a "Bleacher Report" article or something? Just curious.

Why not T.O. or Laveranues Coles? and yeah we should be looking for OL help.

Here's a list of who is still left. Could we use any of these guys?

Quote:
I heard rumblings Tuesday that the Vikings might be in pursuit of free-agent wide receiver Kelley Washington so I checked it out.

What's that saying about where there's smoke, there's fire?

The Vikings do have at least an interest in the veteran, according to NFL sources. That does not mean something definitely will happen but clearly the Vikings have been looking to bring in competition at the receiver position.

Washington spent last season with Baltimore, catching a career-high 34 passes for 431 yards with two touchdowns. A third-round pick of Cincinnati in 2003, Washington played four seasons for the Bengals and two for New England before joining the Ravens.

The Vikings are set to enter training camp with 10 wide receivers, including a top three of Sidney Rice, Bernard Berrian and Percy Harvin. Rice, however, is battling a lingering hip injury and it's unclear how much work he will be able to do at the start of camp.

The remainder of the depth chart includes Taye Biddle (second year); Marquis Hamilton (rookie); Jaymar Johnson (second year); Greg Lewis (eighth year); Marko Mitchell (second year); Logan Payne (first year); and Ray Small (rookie).

Mitchell was acquired in June when Detroit placed him on waivers. The Vikings had tried to get him earlier in the spring when Washington waived Mitchell but the Lions had priority on the wire because of their record last season.

I still find this hard to believe. I guess they think more highly of the current offensive line than they do the current receiving corps. I don't think this bodes well for Rice's hip. I'd still like to ask them why Washington and not Chester Pitts. Standard answer you figure? Competition? Curious. Though, like I mentioned before, he is a skilled special teamer. Eh. We'll see what comes of it.

Of the 10 receivers on the roster, only four have more than one career reception. Jaymar Johnson having one. Doesn't hurt to bring Washington into camp.

You should just start putting a disclaimer at the top of the forum during the offseasons in big bold letters that says "T.O. WILL NEVER BE A VIKING"

What are you even talking about?! Too proud?

Ok since I'm not sure if some people understand what happened.

Childress was the offensive coordinator in Philadelphia
Terrell Owens was a receiver on the offense in Philadelphia
They did not get along at all
At one point Terrell Owens told Childress not to talk to Owens unless Owens first talks to Childress.
That was just the part that TO made clear to the media. Clearly more behind the scenes.

Honestly, there are plenty of desperate teams that could use receiver help that didn't even call his agent. But the Vikings didn't sign him because they were too "proud"?
