I hope I am wrong, but I've begun to think this game could be tough for us to win. I just worry about the offense, in an unfriendly atmosphere, it will be loud, and the Rams pass rush could be fierce if we get down a score or two. At this point, I am of the opinion that we lose, 21-10.

ESPN beat writers Ben Goessling (Vikings) and Nick Wagoner (Rams) preview the game:

http://espn.go.com/blog/nfcnorth/post/_ ... ms-preview
Goessling: Speaking of players who might be causing nightmares for opponents, what kind of a challenge is Matt Kalil in for with Robert Quinn? He handled him well the last time they met, but how has Quinn progressed in the past two years, and how has he looked under Gregg Williams?

Wagoner: Kalil is in for one of the most difficult challenges he’ll face in this league. Quinn had 19 sacks and seven forced fumbles last year, but there are those at Rams Park who believe he’s only scratched the surface of his potential. Quinn has freakish athleticism, which allows him to bend and contort his body in ways most tackles never see while maintaining his speed. He is able to win around the edge more often than not, but he’s also developed better hand usage and counters over the past couple of years under the guidance of defensive line coach Mike Waufle. With Williams leading the defense, the Rams want to be more aggressive in all areas, which means he can dial up blitzes, but Williams has never had a front four like this one. That should allow him to get plenty of heat on the quarterback without having to call those blitzes as much. It should make the Rams more multiple and allow Williams to do some unique things with Quinn and his line mates.

Rams signed Mike Remmers to their PS today.

Sneaky.

Looks like we'll need to change-up our protection calls at the line of scrimmage (among other things).

I hardly think I'm being a homer. The evidence from last year, plus the off season and the fact that we are at home all point to a Rams win. I suppose you are correct in that me thinking blow out is a bit of homerism, but it's no different than any other fan this time of year.
A Rams win by 20 when you're 3.5 point favorites starting a backup quarterback? The only teams that have beaten this team by more than 20 last year were the Panthers and Seahawks and Bengals as Road games. Do you really think this team with a backup quarterback is equal to a healthy Seahawks or Bengals at home?

Maybe they win by a field goal to a touchdown. A 3 touchdown win is just a silly thing to predict when you've got a backup.

This game should be decided by the Defense's not the QB's.

The Rams have a great line but their DBs can be exposed and we have a pretty good set of pass catching fellas out there. Fisher doesn't know offense and Schotty runs one of the most vanilla schemes in the NFL.

I think it's pretty cool to have a non-trolling opponent chime in, thanks for signing up FrantikRam. You've brought up some good points, and I think we'll have a helluva game.

I see the biggest thing being our O-line vs. your D-line, and after we've each had 2-3 series we should see the actual match up. The first quarter could be like any number of first dates: a lot of cautious checking out the other person, or as can happen, one gets really aggressive off the bat and the other has to shut him down. We should see Real Football by the 2nd quarter, and after half time adjustments the 2nd half could be quite grueling for all.

Hill doesn't have any current real play to go by, so unless he's really solidified in his position I don't think he can beat us. We should be able to get 2 sacks or 1 pick on him in the first half until he gets his footing. Cassel has more on-field experience and is not panic prone, so the game of hot potato from Ponder last year is off the table. Even though preseason isn't the full package, it does give the players a game-speed chance to work on timing etc. Cassel had that, what did Hill have? I didn't watch any preseason but ours.

No question we have the best RB in the league. Nuff said on that position.

Our secondary has to prove themselves. If our line can pressure Hill into a few mistakes that our DBs can capitalize on, that will be huge for us. Or Hill could come out hot and we could have to play our arses off more than we expect to. You just never know.

One thing I do know is that this is NOT the 2013 team. That team was not even a facsimile of an NFL team. Whatever y'all have done to prepare your Rams, keep in mind that we have a whole new coaching staff that is very hungry for a good season and players with a lot to prove.

Oh well, maybe with their next top 5 pick they can find some actual decent players. 6th times the charm right? Maybe they can ask Detroit for advice.
