Jim didn't ask for it, but I'm going to add the top 5 Viking players who really weren't (it'll make more sense when you see the players)
1. Brett Favre (always a Packer - and I loved Favre for 2009 - BTW) 2. Roger Craig (always a 49er) 3. Jeff George (always a Raider - although he played for like 7 teams or something, he played for the Raiders twice) 4. Jerry Ball (always a Lion - although he played for others too) 5. Jim McMahon (always a Bear) So does that mean you think Randall Cunningham qualified as a Viking? A good question, and to tell you the truth, he was an oversight. I still think of him as a Philadelphia Eagle, but that 98 season was special, even more so than 2009. Cunningham probably should have replaced McMahon, but it was just so weird seeing the former Bear quarterback in a Viking uniform.

Re: Name Your 5 Favorite Vikings of All Time
In no particular order:
Brett Favre 2009 was my favorite year of Favre's career and the guy who made me an official Viking fan Jared Allen Great heart, best white DE of all time (sorry to throw the racial stats out there!) Adrian Peterson Very admirable athlete. Percy Harvin Becoming one of my favorite athletes anywhere. Randy Moss I always liked and respected Moss from day one.
Sorry to pick so many guys from this era, but I really like these players.

Re: Name Your 5 Favorite Vikings of All Time
For me, I have to limit it to players I watched who are no longer able to disappoint me: Keith Millard Alan Page Paul Krause Matt Blair Anthony Carter
Honorable mention to the best cover corner we ever had - Carl Lee - and to the best free safety we ever had not named Krause - Orlando Thomas. His pass defense in a play against Shannon Sharpe of Denver is, in my mind, the single best defensive play in the history of the Vikings. Someday I'll rip it off my tape of the game so you all can see.

Re: Name Your 5 Favorite Vikings of All Time
Funny, you can tell who some of the older people are by the players they pick. It's easier to pick someone when you have watched them play.
To add a couple more to my list. 5 is way to hard.

I know what you mean about McMahon: it was weird seeing him play for the Vikings! The same goes for Warren Moon... I liked that you created a list of "borrowed" players.

I don't recall seeing Doleman's name yet. Honestly, as much as I love Ad and CC, it would have been easy for me to create an all d-line top 5. The Vikings have a great history at those positions!

Joe Kapp.
Oh wait, five?
Joe Kapp times five.
For the record, the very first Vikings game I ever saw was September 28, 1969 at the Met. Joe Kapp threw for 449 yards and 7 touchdowns. The Vikings won 52-14 over the Baltimore Colts. In my 9-year-old mind, this was how it would always be as a fan of the Vikings ... and Joe Kapp was God.
All right, for real.

Good to see AC getting some love. He was unbelievable in the playoffs. Found the 1987 Vikings season on youtube. Good (and bad) memories. Minnesota Vikings 1987 - Making A Move

Yah Del Rio was never 'great' but was definately one of my favorites while in High School. And that is what we are talking about, I also am a big Greenway fan now. I think both these guys bring/brought a lot of things to a team that you just cant measure. No evidence of this eiher really, just what I feel as I watch em play, pure fandom I guess, Ian

Nevertheless, Blair went to 6 straight Pro Bowls. played a significant role on some superb defenses and on top of everything else, he was an exceptional special teams player. If that's not indicative of a great player than he's about as close as you can get without making the cut.
