Re: Sharif Floyd -- Improvement in Year 2

I have high hopes for Floyd. He was an absolute beast for the Florida Gators. This is an interesting tape. Floyd almost looks like a young version of Kevin Williams, with a great first step and some impressive athleticism. EVERYONE looks like that when you highlight the two good plays they make in ...

Re: Should Patterson be the primary kickoff returner?

Until he proves to be more (frankly, much more) of a receiving threat, hell yeah, he should be returning kicks. When he becomes that guy catching 40, 60, 80 yard passes on a regular basis, then you pull him from KR duty.

Re: Preseason game #2: Vikings - Cardinals game thread 8/16

Biggest concern after watching game ... First string OL especially left side Both Kalil and Johnson were very ineffective early in the game. They seemed to get better after a few series ??? Kalil had some plays where he looked like he did much of last year. He looks confused or something. I don't u...

Re: Inside Slant: An alternative to longer XPs

Sure, it may raise the entertainment value, but what kind of impact would a 66% success rate on 2 point conversion make? It would be akin to making TDs worth 7 points or field goals worth 4. It's not something you can change to that degree.

Like I said, they took the easy way. Now they're done with him.

Re: Kluwe rips Frazier, Spielman, Priefer

The Vikings should have taken the hard line and told Kluwe to go #### himself, which you can be sure is what everyone in the front office wanted them to do. This was simply the path of least resistance.

At least they're finally done with that piece of garbage.

Re: Thielen seems to be in the thick of Vikings' plans

To be honest suspended players still might count on the 53 man roster. It might also depend on the length and type of supension. No, suspended players are not counted as members of the 53. They're on reserve. The Vikings will have someone else on the roster in Simpson's place during his suspension,...

Re: Preseason game #2: Vikings - Cardinals game thread 8/16

Perhaps. I suspect we'll be seeing a lot more of Peterson on 3rd down this year. If the Vikings cart Asiata onto the field on 3rd down, it's like announcing to the defense "this guy will NOT be getting a hand off and he will NOT be the primary receiver".

Re: Preseason game #2: Vikings - Cardinals game thread 8/16

I guess it could happen, but I highly doubt Asiata gets cut. He's the best blocking back and best receiving back out of any of the backups. Turner and others have all pointed out how good he's looked in camp. He also plays special teams and can fill in at both FB/RB. He's just the most versatile gu...

Re: 2014 Vikings Practice Notes/Interviews

is captain going to start opposite rhodes at corner or not, does anyone know what the real plan is with him? By all indications, Captain Munnerlyn and Xavier Rhodes will be the starting cornerbacks. I don't think there's a big question there. The question right now is who the nickel cornerback will...

Re: Preseason game #2: Vikings - Cardinals game thread 8/16

To me, the big distinction on that play is that the ball was muffed, not fumbled. That's the Holly Roller rule. After the two-minute warning and on 4th downs, only the offensive player who fumbled the ball (whether intentional or not) can advance it.

Re: 2014 Vikings Practice Notes/Interviews

Something I've always wondered about the latter part of preseason: The Vikings have 90 guys trying to make the roster, with maybe 30 of them having virtually no chance, so they'll be going home in two weeks. While they're at training camp, the Vikes put them up in the dorms in Mankato. What do they ...
