Re: Once in Nineteen...

The question that spawned my responses was how do they get to the next level. My answer: More consistency in the regular season. Having continuity in the offensive coaching staff is probably the biggest step they could take in that direction. I'd argue that the 2 September losses can, in no small p...

Re: PHP's Early Mock Offseason

I'm not sure Rhodes will garner trade offers, but it is possible. Zimmer loves the guy so that might nix it. I love the idea of the FA moves, but I'm leary. Daniels on the surface is a brilliant suggestion, but I wonder how bad the injury toll really is? I was very surprised GB let him go. Now he is...

Re: Once in Nineteen...

Ha, I knew the GM stuff would stir the pot. I do not find the counter argument to be at all persuasive. Twice out of the past 3 seasons they have gotten a playoff win and played in at least the divisional round. Top 4 NFL team in 2017 probably Top 5 is 2019. But the GM and HC are bad. Right... Let's...

Re: Once in Nineteen...

It's a subtle difference, but the head coaches you mention do that well. Sure, they may still call plays for the offense or defense, but they fill the head coach role. I don't see that with Zimmer. I see a defensive coordinator with him. A by-the-numbers guy who understands his half of the team and...

Re: Once in Nineteen...

we need to ask why it's not happening. Each year there have been different themes: 2014: Build Defense / AP out all year due to child abuse - Answer: Get AP Back 2015: OL falls apart / Walsh misses kick - Answer: Fix Kicker / Get better on OL 2016: OL injury disaster / Walsh gets cut / TB Injury = ...

Re: Once in Nineteen...

One suggestion I have is to completely ignore the media both locally and nationally right now. Those clowns are talking about cutting everybody and blowing it up like it would be good for the team. They only think about next year. They are lost in all the follies of amateurish fans, like Free Agenc...

Re: Gary Kubiak Named OC

I think this is a solid move. Stefanski did an ok job of running Kubiak's system. It is obvious that Zimmer gets along well with Kubiak and we are already employing several long time Kubiak asisstants at the position level. As Kyle Shanahan is proving in Denver, the system works. I also like the con...

Re: Once in Nineteen...

I think part of the volatility in the Zimmer era is the fact that parity is a thing in the NFL. Look around the league and the only teams in the last 20 years that have had consistent success are those that possess that elite level passer. Every other one has ups and downs. Even teams with an elite ...

Re: 49ers Post Game

I think you guys are taking the Bardford trade way out of context. They had Sean Hill at QB and nobody else when they made that transaction. They didn't know if Teddy would ever play another snap. The impetus of that move was to try and salvage the 2016 season that they were going into with a roster...

Re: Vikings Roster Review

Barr is undersized to play DE in a 4-3. He could probably be a solid edge rusher in a 3-4, but that isn't the scheme Zimmer runs. I think a lot of this talk is premature right now. A lot is going to change in March given their laundry list of free agents and the contracts that all but have to be red...

Re: Vikings Roster Review

After watching that game yesterday it was obvious that our pass rush has lost a step or two. We get pressure, but not like that 49ers unit gets pressure. Made me wonder if our defensive woes are all in the backfield or if it is combo platter of EG losing a step, the middle guys not being a major thr...

Re: Should the Vikings Trade for Joe Burrow?

It would take a kings ransom to move up from 25 to get Burrow. Given the bust rates of QBs... you run a major risk that you end up feeling like the Chicago GM vs the KC/HOU GMs. The guy at 25 or even on day 2 could be the best QB in the draft. It happens. Rogers dropped on his draft day. Wilson was ...

Re: 2019 season on this Board

I'm hope for 49ers vs. Chiefs, but I think the Chiefs are going to run away with it unless Vrabel has another magic game plan. Honestly, this week's games seem less exciting than last week. I want to see GB get manhandled again. Drawing an injury depleted Seahawks team was just so typical of the Pac...

Re: Vikings Roster Review

Hughes can't stay healthy. Put it this way: Look at our CBs in terms of injury issues: (My arm chair rankings) Alexander Waynes Hill Rhodes Hughes Hughes has been on IR twice since he was drafted. He is good when healthy, but can he stay on the field? Hill needs to not get suspended. Waynes has had ...
