Re: Berger, Sirles, Easton, Hill, Andrews?, Compton?

This is an interesting take. You make a lot of good points. OL definately at a disadvantage with rule changes that Donte allow contact and are behind the learning curve and may take longer to mesh together for that reason as well. Perhaps that reduces the difference in play from the best and worst d...

This upgrades like potentially 5 positions long term Punt return kick return inside CB outside CB Plus if we hit on him and he is better than Waynes (eventually), both depth and starting CB improve. ALSO, if we move on from Waynes and opt not to exercise, we free up about 9M in cap room per year and...

I don't think this will make signing our guys any easier but it does show why there is parity in the NFL and why it is hard to stay dominant for long stretches of time.

Subtraction (of salary cap) by addition

So we have Brian Robison making potentially 3.5M with zero guarenteed. That is we can save 3.5M by cutting him. So the idea is to sign multiple players ton the DL for a 3.5M or less contract including draft picks and UDFAs with minimal guarenteed. One of them makes the team and if that person is mak...

Re: Wright Released

This was totally and unequivocally inevitable after signing Cousins AND Richardson. The only other cap saving moves available are: 1)cutting Robison 2)cutting Murray (he already took a pay cut) 3)asking Rudolph to take a pay cut and if not cutting him 4)cutting Sendejo 5)Trading one or more of Diggs...

Re: Bradford to sign with the Arizona Cardinals

The Daily Norseman, a Minnesota Vikings blog retweeted Nick Korte @nickkorte 35m The Vikings do end up getting a 3rd round 2019 compensatory pick for Case Keenum...because Sam Bradford's APY may be higher. Thus, it would be Bradford who gets canceled out by Kirk Cousins instead of Keenum. twitter.c...

Re: Bradford to sign with the Arizona Cardinals

This move cancels out Cousins on the compensatory formula and means we are up most likely a 3rd round compensatory pickin 2019 for Cousins, and depending what Teddy sounds for could have another 3rd rounder there in 2019... All this contingent upon the players being on the active roster week 1 I bel...

Re: Brees AND Teddy for less than Cousins?

I don't think Brews would leave NO for a one year deal. He's looking to play 2 or 3 years more. We would have to wow him to get him to leave. I think our chances of la ding him are low. I would gladly sacrifice Murray's 5 million to give Brees to get him here but sometimes it's not about the money ...

Re: Brees AND Teddy for less than Cousins?

Also in this scenario we probably wait to extend one or more of Barr, Hunter, Kendricks, Diggs or don't give them a lot up front and/or other deals would have to be light in year one and heavier in year 2 and 3 and more guarenteed perhaps as a result. But overall it doesn't change a lot if you are w...

Brees AND Teddy for less than Cousins?

Okay so there is a big asterisk here but 1 yr deal to Brees $33M. The Saints cannot match with their cap space. 3yr deal MINIMAL up front but mostly guarenteed up front to Teddy with lots of incentives and not a lot guaranteed after year 1 for about $17M a year. Total per year for 2 QBs= $84M over 3...

Brees can now negotiate with other teams.
Saints don't take the cap hit until Wednesday so looks like they are letting him determine his value first before deciding whether to match or not.

Re: [Rumor] Kirk Cousins a Vikings for 27 million/year

I'd rather give Brees a 1 yr 40 million dollar contract (I'm exaggerating a little), draft a QB and give him a deal the Saints cannot match with a rookie QB contract next year giving us room to sign our guys afterwards. My next choice would be the decision to get 2 bargain basement QBs to set our f...

The Defense hasn't really been given an endurance test and individuals probably were over hyped (emotionally) from the last game and a little bit "dopamine depleted" as others have said. The Vikings basically dominated the time of possession in every game they won minus the Redskins game and lost th...

There are a ton of new starting QBs this year vs last year st this time. Re: Biggest surprise Viking

I will agree. One of the things the Vikings do is dare teams to beat them deep, particularly on third and medium. There was a time when that would hurt Wayne's. Waynes had troubles early on being too physical and drawing flags. Some of that was just stuff that wouldn't always be called and I think h...

I love the idea of going OL in draft and FA to improve LG, RG or RG, RT and move Remmers into RG. #1 rush offense with this defense would be amazing. Yeah as good as Remmers has been at RT, he looks great at guard. Perhaps we bring back Easton, have Remmers play OG and draft a RT with the option to...

They're probably hoping for a David vs Goliath story at QB and #1 O vs #1 D if it comes to it hoping Patriots make it to go up against either NFC team so they're downplaying such a comparison intentionally. Also, the storyline really gets hyped up before the Super Bowl not so much the NFC/AFC Champi...
