Re: 53 man roster...Cuts and trades

A tough move, but a smart move. Robison didn't get to 'go out on his own terms' but he got to play until the tread came off, and that's beautiful in its own way. I'll be surprised if he doesn't retire and take greg coleman's job. Kind of shocking but the silver lining means they must feel pretty go...

Re: Report: Pat Elflein off PUP list, not expected to play Week One

I guess its hard to maintain NFL strength when you are simultaneously recovering from an ankle and a shoulder injury. Elflein already wasn't the biggest guy. That's been my biggest concern with Elflein's injuries. I'm worried that he won't physically get up to speed for quite some time which could ...

Re: Early Look: Vikings vs. Seahawks

Depends what you consider pricey. There's nothing under $100. Most 3rd level tickets will run you $150 a piece and anything 2nd level and below is at least $200+. It's not terribly difficult to get tickets, but all home games get sold out and this one being MNF, I'm sure that's why prices are what ...

I suppose I should go to that week 14 game.
I was thinking about going up for that game. How tough is it to get single game tickets up there? Are they usually pretty pricey?

Re: If we have to lose a young core player?

I suppose he could be paid more as a pass rush specialist in certain 3-4 systems although I don't think he's really garnered enough of a reputation to get paid big time for that role. His sack numbers have declined every year since he entered the league. He only had 1 sack last year. Some of that i...

Re: If we have to lose a young core player?

I don't think Zimmer would draft a guy he felt wasn't a good schematic fit. More than his pass rushing abilities, I think it's Barr's lateral movement that sets him apart from most LB's. He can cover an incredibly amount of space due to his athleticism, which is big in Zim's scheme. I don't think h...

Re: If we have to lose a young core player?

And again, an update. Without a new contract, Barr's agent recommended he get injury insurance before participating in team activities. Barr waited until that was complete, then came to the second week of OTAs. Barr will get paid. He's too good not to. I agree but I wonder if it will be by someone ...

Re: Viking Tweets

I think some players are more active than others. The ones I follow are generally not that active and it's mostly personal stuff, but that's interesting too. As for beat writers, some are more interesting than others: Arif Hasan - @ArifHasanNFL ‏ Chris Tomasson - @christomasson Darren Wolfson - @DW...

Re: If we have to lose a young core player?

I don't think Barr is holding out, he's in a contract year so probably doesn't want to risk injury like what happened to Hunter Henry. I believe he will be at mandatory minicamp in June. I agree, it was reported that he was seen speaking with Zimmer and absent a new deal is probably going to skip a...

Re: If we have to lose a young core player?

Unfortunately, I don't think we'll have the fortune to only lose one of these guys. I think realistically we'll only be able to keep a couple (wishing for three). My hope would be that those two are Diggs and Hunter, as I think they probably have the biggest upside and looking at the rest of the ros...

Re: Cornerbacks, Salary Cap, and more

The other consideration is if we pay Diggs, Thielen is going to be vastly underpaid. I mean, he already is but it will be more magnified if Diggs gets a big paycheck. Thielen seems like a standup guy, lifelong Viking fan, but this is still his livelihood. I'm not saying he's going to make a fuss ab...

Re: Cornerbacks, Salary Cap, and more

I'd agree that getting either Hunter and/or Diggs under contract this year is a move that hopefully will be made. I think those two are much more important than either Waynes or Barr. While Waynes has made strides, I still watch the plays he's covering and he doesn't seem to be able to track the bal...

Re: 2nd Round Pick- Brian O'Neill- OL, Pittsburgh

Hard to know if Kalil was a scouting mistake or a subsequent injury/will-to-win issue. Remember, Kalil had a strong rookie season, and played in the Pro Bowl as a replacement. Things went down rapidly only after that rookie season. Good point, I guess despite his good rookie season, it's been too m...

Re: 2nd Round Pick- Brian O'Neill- OL, Pittsburgh

Some of the scouting reports have been talking about his core and lower body strength which really isn't something that benching demonstrates. That will be an issue if it doesn't improve, but obviously less of an issue than if he was projected to be playing inside. I obviously hope this guy works ou...
