Re: Dream last night

"shrug" If the organization and coaches weren't ones he could believe in, Randy didn't play to his potential. It's just how he was. You can call it a lack of professionalism all day long but the guy was very loyal and passionate about coaches and organizations that he felt he could believe...

Re: Jeff Locke has to go

I agree. I don't know if it has anything to do with that, but it is true. A good, experienced holder is huge for a solid kicking game. It's a dirty secret among kickers that a whole lot of kickers have lost jobs due to a team taking a third string rookie quarterback or something and making him into...

Re: T.J. Clemmings steps into big shoes on Vikings offensive

Granted, Clemmings was playing against Tampa-grade backups most of the time, too. Hope he keeps it up - otherwise, Mike Harris wasn't too bad when he played in place of Load last season. Not sure who'd move up to take that RG spot, though. Probably the new guy they just signed, maybe Tyrus. Replacin...

Re: 3.88 Vikings select DE- Danielle Hunter LSU

From what I've read so far, Hunter is surprisingly solid in run support and containing edge rushers given his position change from fullback in college and lack of DE experience, but tentative in his pass rush. I guess he still thinks too much or something and doesn't shed his block quickly enough or...

Re: Preseason Week 2- Minnesota Vikings vs. Tampa Bay Buccan

If I hadn't know where the guys were drafted, I would have taken Heineke over Winston, without too much question. It helps that Heineke has one of the top 3 offensive coordinators in football running his show and a much better system in place than Winston. Tampa is a mess aside from having a bunch ...

Re: Preseason Week 1- Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Minnesota Viki

Huh. Not a lot of people talking about the kicking issues last night. Coverage and returns on special teams were fine, Diggs' return being the bright spot...but the kicking sucked. Walsh nearly missed that PAT and did miss a 48 yarder that he'd normally nail. Can't tell if it's the holding or if it'...

Re: Training Camp Master Thread

Tyrus Thompson, so far, appears to be the current preseason SOD. They locked him in at RG and if Harris slips, I wouldn't be surprised if he beats out Yankey. I'd say the same for Diggs, but even with his talent I can't see him cracking the top three...this year. Danielle Hunter sounds like he's bee...

Re: 4.110 Vikings select OL- TJ Clemmings Pittsburgh

This is clearly a great value pick. Clemmings can eventually back up all over the line, but he projects to a RT. And at some point, Loadholt is probably going to start to decline. Clemmings needs a year or two of development and he'll be right there when Loadholt hits the other side of 30 and may st...

Re: 5.143 Vikings select TE- MyCole Pruitt Southern Illinois

First off Cobb is not that good of back, in fact I would bet that he could not even beat out Banyard. AD is good to go for at least 2 more years and Mckinnow should be fine. I guess they could have drafted him as a 4th string back though. To each their own. McKinnon was also a rookie and wasn't pre...

Re: 2.45 Vikings select LB- Eric Kendricks UCLA

Notice that when you draft good linebackers, your defense improves. Just a smart pick and it's about time the Vikings drafted a middle linebacker high and filled that hole that's been exposed since EJ Henderson left. Plus move making Anthony Barr very happy. This was my favorite pick in this whole d...

Re: offensive neglect

This is kind of silly. The Vikings defense was one of the worst in football just 2 years ago, which is a big part of the reason why they were bad but not bad enough to draft much higher (because the offense bailed the team out just enough to win just enough to NOT pick any higher). Of course they're...

Re: Jerick McKinnon

If you're going to count two things as negatives about him, it's clearly his blocking and vision. Both can improve with reps. Unless you're so good as a ball carrier that you don't get a lot of reps blocking. The vision part is probably a byproduct of having been a quarterback instead of running bac...

Re: Adrian Peterson (not) Reinstated

I would not go so far as to call Adrian Peterson a "beast". Unless you're talking about his running game. He's just a guy who has been jerked around a whole lot because of his own stupid decision a long time ago that he never thought would be leaked publicly. Maybe he feels pretty vulnerab...

Re: The First Name Basis Thread

I was Rus even in the asfmv days. I think. I might have spelled it differently a few times back then just to mix it up. Sometimes it's Rust or Russ depending on who knew me at what phase of my life.

But it's the shortened version of my actual first name.
