Re: Cornerbacks, Salary Cap, and more

The other consideration is if we pay Diggs, Thielen is going to be vastly underpaid. I mean, he already is but it will be more magnified if Diggs gets a big paycheck. Thielen seems like a standup guy, lifelong Viking fan, but this is still his livelihood. I'm not saying he's going to make a fuss abo...

Re: Vikings Draft Picks

I dont see Compton starting. But if he does I would think it's where you said. I would guess either Reiff, Easton, Elflein, Remmers and Hill OR Reiff, Easton, Elflein, Remmers and O'Neill. They didnt take O'Neill in the 2nd for him to sit the bench. We'll see but early reports indicate O'Neill isn'...

Re: Vikings Draft Picks

At this point, how do you think you would arrange the 2018 starting OL for the Vikings using the players currently on the roster? Or if you'd rather, who do you predict to be starting along the OL in Week 1? Not addressed to me but my guess is Reiff-Easton-Elflein-Compton-Remmers. I really think Re...

Re: Cornerbacks, Salary Cap, and more

No secret Zim likes his corners and he keeps a lot of them on the roster. I think we keep 6 corners and 4 safeties. I agree with you that Kearse has done well in ST's and I think that earns him his spot. Harris looked okay in relief when Sendejo went down. I could see Sherels spot in jeopardy given ...

Re: Vikings Draft Picks

I think if they make the playoffs no one is getting fired, I don't see this as a SB or bust type situation although they are definitely in win now mode (as are the other major contenders like the Rams). But an 8-8 season? I don't know, we might see some heads roll. I agree we shouldn't have an 8-8 s...

Re: Updating the Traveling/Game Attending Advice

Ah yes, thanks Ohjay! They have a crazy beer selection and it's part of our annual pilgrimage. I think I've been to 8th St Grill, is that the one with the umbrella seats outside? Definitely a Packers bar if so.

Hell's Kitchen seems popular for breakfast but it's always so crowded we just pass.

Re: Coming from Massachusetts to see my first Vikings game

Club seats you have an actual club you enter before going to your seats. There's food, drinks, and bathrooms only for people in that section. There's also seats/couches and giant TV screens. The seats themselves offer a very good vantage point but you are fairly high up. If you want to be close to t...

Re: Vikings Draft Picks

Maybe. If Cousins flops then good luck finding the GM that wouldn't have made that move if they were in Spielman's place. Seemed like almost a league wide consensus good move. I literally googled "Vikings cousins bad move" and the first thing that comes up talks about how perfect the match is. When...

Re: Vikings Draft Picks

I doubt his job is tagged to Cousins. That line of thinking has been used with Ponder, with Teddy, etc. Last year there was talk of it being tagged to the OL. Those are not remotely similar. We gave Cousins $84M. Guaranteed. All of it. If he flops, its going to be hard to justify keeping a GM who m...

I'm by no means an expert or someone who lives in Minneapolis so please keep this in mind. Lodging We like the DoubleTree Suites on the corner of Lasalle and 11th. Walking distance to many restaurants and shops. Maybe a 10 minute uber to US Bank. There are several other options in this area to explo...

Re: Vikings Draft Picks

At the end of the day, Spielman's job is tied to Cousins. If Cousins flops, Spielman will be gone. Doesn't matter if that's fair, how he built the roster, etc., that's what will happen. So if Spielman misjudged the strength of the OL and Cousins doesn't have any protection, he's basically sealed his...

@TomPelissero (Tom Pelissero): Former #Saints and #Colts DT David Parry is visiting the #Vikings today, source said. He has off field issues and is coming off an injury but the cupboard is bare for NT's right now. He could be depth behind Linval assuming he can get his act together and stay healthy.

What did you expect would be available at #30 in this year's draft to address that gaping hole, if it exists at all?
James Daniels, Will Hernandez, Braden Smith, Austin Corbett, Connor Williams...

Outside of Price and Ragnow, they basically had their pick of the litter.

Re: Vikings Draft Picks

By "let down," do you mean the draft, or the entire offseason? Because if you ask me, the offseason as a whole has been one of the best I've seen in 50 years as a Vikings fan. Kirk Cousins, Sheldon Richardson, Kendall Wright and Trevor Siemian make a really nice free-agent haul. And John DeFilippo ...

Re: Vikings Draft Picks

That analysis is interesting. I had wondered if part of the Hughes pick had to do with the liklihood of him being able to contribute. On the OL front, I wonder if things are actually as bad as we think they are? I think it is worth noting that this team did survive injuries during the regular seaso...

Re: Vikings Draft Picks

We obviously won't know until they hit the field but I think Daniels is the better pick because he is also a great athlete with more polish. Like O'Neill, he needs to get stronger but the athleticism is there, the arm length, explosiveness, etc. https://www.mockdraftable.com/player/james-daniels com...

Re: 2nd Round Pick- Brian O'Neill- OL, Pittsburgh

Broad jump and vert are decent gauges for lower body strength. O'neill was 77 and 69th percentile, respectively, which isn't great but not too bad either. Best place for him to start this year is as a 3rd tackle. I expect a lot of 3 tackle sets with him declaring and the occasional rare trick pass t...

I'm glad Newman is coming back as he can serve as a good mentor for Hughes. He did leave early and I believe only started 11 games at UCF so he may need a vet to guide him some.

Re: Vikings Draft Picks

I don't think the gripe is we're going to have a bad year because of the draft, this is still a 13-win team that didn't lose many pieces. And the ones we lost, like at QB and DT, we likely upgraded. I think the frustration, at least for me, is the offseason was going so well and we literally had one...

Re: Vikings Draft Picks

If Hughes isn't a depth signing then we missed on Waynes and/or Alexander. If it's Alexander then 2016 is shaping up to be an awful draft class as I previously mentioned. It's one or the other, either he's coming here because we're worried about a guy we drafted highly or he was a luxury depth signi...
