Re: Vikings vs. Bills Pregame Thread

The only way I see all the first-stringers sitting out is if we have a score of at least 35+ going late into the third. I'm not a betting man though, but with how depleted and limp Buffalo's defense is, Cousins should have no problems having a career day against them. Maybe I'm overly optimistic, b...

Re: Vikings Vs. Packers Postgame Thread

Plenty. I was wrong on Patterson. I was wrong on Murray. I was wrong on Remmers at the RT position. Unlike most, I have no problem saying I am wrong. The fact that you haven't seen much of it, makes me think you should spend more time listening to me and less time making passive aggressive posts :)...

Re: Vikings Vs. Packers Postgame Thread

I recently read somewhere that 16 of the top 20 tv event ratings were nfl games last year so it's still very good ratings. I think the biggest reason for the decline is that there are just way more entertainment options available now than 20 years ago. When I started watching football there were no...

Re: Vikings Vs. Packers Postgame Thread

I said it after we cut Forbath. It was too early. A long FG in Denver isn't a true test. Kicks tend to travel further up in that thin air. I'm curious. You play the "I said it" card an awful lot. Have you ever been wrong about anything related to the Vikings? I'm guessing not, but I thought I'd ask.

Re: Vikings Vs. Packers Postgame Thread

It depends on the circumstances but for the most part, yes. I've watched enough football to know the "safe" strategy isn't always safe. Lord knows enough Vikings kickers have demonstrated that over the years. We'll just agree to disagree here. I don't think you can coach based on what Gary Anderson...

Re: Vikings Vs. Packers Postgame Thread

That being said, Forbath was one of the worst in the league at Extra Points and those should be a gimme also, so I get why they made the change. But so far the grass isn't any greener... UGH. Here's a really simplistic, non-scientific take on your take. Forbath missed 5 XPs last year, which cost us...

Re: Vikings Vs. Packers Postgame Thread

Zimmer was always agressive in his first season, especially on defense. He just seems to have fallen into this "play not to lose" #### that others have. You think New England plays not to lose? No they play to win, which is why they often do. New England would not have gone for the TD in that situa...

Re: Vikings Vs. Packers Postgame Thread

I kiss a photo of him every night before I go to sleep. Back to the point: if Priefer is to be held accountable for Carlson's negative impact on yesterday's game, then logically, Zimmer and Spielman should be too. If "the god damn coach" on special teams is a problem, as Landon suggested, how does ...

Re: Inside Laquon Treadwell's Redemption Tour

Size? Treadwell posed for a pic with my 15-year-old son at training camp this season. There is no way that dude is more than 6'0" or possibly 6'1". He absolutely is not 6'3". My son is barely 6'0" and looked taller than him in the pic. I have managed to get field passes for some games over the past...

Re: Vikings Vs. Packers Postgame Thread

Zimmer's already just as culpable and Spielman is too. I'm sure Priefer has some input into ST decisions but he didn't make the choice to trade picks, move up and draft Carlson. He didn't make the choice to go with a rookie kicker on a team with Super Bowl aspirations. That's a choice above his pay...

Re: Vikings Vs. Packers Postgame Thread

Not sure what the Vikings' thinking was here -- other then the GB upmen are not exactly their best hands men and Vikings may have been looking to create a turnover -- but to suggest that the pooch gave the Pack "great field position" is disingenuous. They started on their own 30 rather than their o...

Re: Inside Laquon Treadwell's Redemption Tour

I was answering a post about Wright. I know that. So was I. You were commenting on Wright's salary. But if you subtract the cap savings we would have gotten from cutting Treadwell, the hit for Wright wouldn't have been as hard to handle. It's all moot now. Jarius Wright is scoring touchdowns for Ca...

Maybe Wile can kick for us
I know you're being facetious ... but Wile can KICK OFF. He's said to have a big leg.

That's important. If they're worried about losing Carlson's kickoffs (no returns so far) they could go with an accurate kicker and Wile kicking off.

Re: Vikings Vs. Packers Postgame Thread

Is it time for my annual fire Mike Priefer chant again? Another head case kicker, blocked punt, below average punting. Seriously, how many times do we need to replace people until we realize it's the god damn coach. It's a great question. Special teams cost us the win today. All we needed was avera...

Re: Vikings Vs. Packers Postgame Thread

Holy crap.

I just read that Johnny Hekker hit a 20-yard field goal and an extra point for the Rams today.

Johnny Hekker is the Rams' punter.
