Re: Stuff from our new GM
If Kalil is gone by the time we draft, it means RGIII will still be available. .... I'm like you, PG. If we can get a game-changer, I want us to do that. At the same time, the possibilities are pretty intriguing. Based on what I've seen both from RG III and from Ponder to this point over their resp...

Re: Stadium thread
Why not expand the scope of the discussion beyond stadiums? Whatever funding source they come up woth can include improvements to the civic center, museums, and yes, sporting venues depending on the need. People also need to be reminded of the monetary returns generated by these projects. There are ...

Re: Stadium thread
If true, the proposed "ideal" spot at Arden Hills costs (I believe) a proposed $1.057 billion. I'm an Arden Hills supporter so I'm a bit bias but the cost savings to me aren't significant enough to see much benefit to the Metrodome site over Arden Hills. YMMV. I think the Wilfs have alrea...

Re: Stadium thread
Tom Pelissero on Twitter What Zygi is saying is he either has an offer on the table for the team or would have an offer on the table for the team that makes any alternative site worth far less to him. I'm pretty sure the Wilfs are betting on getting a lot of cheap land they can develop around the s...

Re: Stadium thread
Here you go. http://4millionvikesfans.com/images/billboard---stadium-bill.jpg I do remember some of the great moments, but unfortunately it's mostly the tears that stay with me. They can't let this team leave until it wins a friggin' Superbowl (and before I die). Once they get that out of the way, ...

Re: Stadium thread
I fault the legislators for taking the short view. The long view is the better one because it more accurately reflects the balance between costs and benefits, and as the Souhan piece points out and simple financial analysis shows, there are significant benefits to the state that accrue over time fro...

Re: Stadium thread
Not everyone in MN cares about sports. Such a massive art/theater/music community in MPLS/STP area. Sports is an after thought for some folks If a referendum had been held to decide it the United States would not exist. It's not about what *everyone* wants or thinks is important. It's up to the pol...

Re: Stadium thread
If the people of Minnesota don't get the deal done, they don't deserve to have an NFL team. Have fun watching the Twins, Timberwolves, Wild, and the mighty Golden Gophers. Just crazy what they're doing. Might as well start packing the moving vans because there is no way a referendum will pass and if...

Re: Stadium thread
Care to revisit your assertion that "there is no way this thing gets built in Ramsey County," VikingLord? Sounds like Zygi has pushed all his chips into the middle on this. Moreover, since Minneapolis' lame and insulting attempt to steal their thunder has left Zygi "very upset",...

Re: Stadium thread
Same old, same old. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=6521457 There is no way this thing gets built in Ramsey County. The Wilfs like the Arden Hills site because they know it's way under-valued and they'd be getting access to 265 basically undeveloped acres of infill development. With the...

Re: How do you feel about Ponder as our QB?
No one is a sure thing, but I think Nick Fairley and Prince Amukamara are about as close as it comes, and they were BOTH still available If they were such sure things, why were both still on the board at #12? Why did Amukamara drop to #19? I don't think any of us can know what the guys who evaluate...

Re: Stadium thread
One thing that never gets mentioned in the funding equation is taxes. Let's say the stadium costs $900 million and all of that is financed by the state. Let's say the team has a payroll of $100 million/year, not counting ancillary staff, coach's salaries, etc. What does the state collect in taxes on...

Re: Do you think TheSaints purposely hit Favre with illegal hits
I don't think they tried to hurt him. Tried to hit him, yes, but hurt him, no. Were some of them roughing, yes, but most were legal hits from what I could see. For me, the bigger questions are: - Why didn't the Vikings pass block better? This wasn't the first game all year where Favre took a lot of ...

Re: Vikings vs. Rams Game Thread
The defensive problems are the most disturbing to me. I think teams can win with average offenses as long as they have solid defenses. The Vikings defense does NOT look remotely solid against either the pass or the run, and they haven't for the last three weeks IMHO. Teams are finding glaring weakne...
