If JJ McCarthy doesn't start the season, and if Darnold does start but isn't playing like Pat Mahomes (in other words, there are some variables here), I would think game 7 against the Lions, a home game and after a bye week, would be a good place to start McCarthy.

Re: Draft Day Discussion
Absolutely. They said giving up 3 FRPs to get McCarthy was cool, but giving up a 4 and a 5th for 6 swap was horrible. You can't make this stuff up. Walter Football has lost all credibility. I think that's based on the importance of the qb position, you can trade off more picks to get the right qb, ...

Re: The Official Dallas Turner thread
I was thinking a comparison is Micah Parsons, hopefully? About the same size and same position.
BTW, position now informally known as edge rusher, seems relatively new to call a player that, not an official designation, any of you football scholars know when that came along?

Re: The official JJ McCarthy Thread
JJ's press conference. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SKi2ck51EDE I was watching that and thinking either McCarthy is shorter than advertised or O'Connell is tall. I looked it up and O'Connell is tall, whew, McCarthy not a shrimp. McCarthy handles himself well, I always think of what I'd have been...

Re: Draft Day Discussion
What did the Vikings give up? It was smart to make sure the Broncos didn't jump ahead of them. But I sure hope it wasn't a mini bidding war. I think a fourth and fifth. Not that bad. They still keep the 23rd pick, so good going, getting what they want without paying a steep price. Also I think good...

See above. I'm listening to radio in Denver, they are crushed that Vikings got McCarthy.BeforeIDie wrote: ↑Thu Apr 25, 2024 8:17 pm Why trade back 1 pick with a team you knew wouldn’t draft QB. We traded our 4th and 5th to get a 6th. Kwesi sucks man.

Re: Draft Day Discussion
Vikings have 10? yup we just moved up one spot with nyj we were worried the jets would take the qb we wanted? but they were willing to trade with us? what? Worried the Broncos would jump ahead of them and go for McCarthy. At least that's the speculation here in Denver, that the Broncos would jump n...

Figured with Cousins they were out of the qb market. They really did a good job of keeping that under wraps.

Re: Draft Day Discussion
I was thinking the Bears would be a likely candidate to trade down, but probably Vikings don't want to help someone in their division with more picks.VikingsVictorious wrote: ↑Thu Apr 25, 2024 8:00 pm Time to trade up for McCarthy. The cost should be low and I no longer want to risk losing him.

Nothing happened, Joe Alt to Chargers. Maybe the Broncos and Vikings weren't quite as eager to trade up for McCarthy as all the rumors suggested.
